Key piece of crime fighting equipment....
Yep... there it is boys and girls, the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM Lens. Its lovely isn't it? I have a tremendous crush on it. I've moved on from Fez already. I know better when I see it. Too bad this baby didn't cost as much as Fez tho.... because REALLY. After I purchased it I wasn't sure if I wanted to go home and cry in a fetal position or do cart-wheels.
The pretentious snot in me really wanted to upgrade my camera body first. I wanted a lovely new camera with all its new buttons and all its unnecessary mega-pixels. After I thought long and hard about it I came to the realization that although my camera isn't top of the line, it takes great images. New bodies come and go every single year but lenses remain basically the same. Not only that but the camera I wanted basically takes such wonderful high resolution photographs that it ends up showing any flaws that an inferior lens might have. Seeing as how my lenses are all more low end I decided it was smarter to invest in "glass" for now. L series lens here I come.
Besides all that, I know for certain that you can have the biggest, newest, monster of a camera body and it won't matter if you don't understand aperture, shutter speed, your camera's features and most importantly have "an eye". I've seen my fair share of people with lots of funds at their disposal that think the more expensive camera you have the better pictures you can take.
Sorry... not so much.
I tried my lens out tonight. I didn't know what I was missing!! I've never owned a L series lens. I just couldn't justify the expense till now. Its like going from a Honda Civic to a Mercedes Benz. It focuses like a dream in the blink of an eye. And its virtually silent. It's a beautiful, bright, fast piece of glass. I stopped crying and would have tried to do cart-wheels if I had it insured already.
AND if the thing didn't weigh as much as a human head.
Riddled with tumors.
So... to all those people that may scoff at my several year old camera with the SWEET lens on it, which is HUGE and HEAVY and doesn't match in the least: Well... yeah I know. I do look like the nerdy kid in high school who's dad bought him a sports car. My equipment DOESN'T match, but my pictures gonna be the BOMB!

Yes, yes... the photography blog cometh.
In the mean time this is what you get. My list is pretty big right now of things I have to do. Here's a breakdown:
- Get a Business License
- Register with the Utah Chamber of Commerce
- Buy a key piece of crime fighting equipment (more to come)
- Set up photo blog (for any of you that have one, any tips or hints are appreciated.)
- Buy a domain name and set it up so my blog uses that as it's URL
- Take more pictures
- Edit Edit Edit
- Found out how to set up my business and as what (Thank you Kim!).
- Looked into things for tax purposes (Thank you Lore!! And yippee! That key piece of crime fighting equipment will just count as a loss against my earnings)
- As of right now am finding out how to insure said equipment.
- Taken pics at a couple of locations on my list for the blog.
I feel like I need more recent work before I get around to unleashing the photo blog for prospective clientele. I have a VERY busy schedule in the next month. Hopefully I will have lots of additions and can get the blog up as soon as possible. In the meantime, take a look at some impromptu shots of Mel and Brent's cute girls. Let me know what you think!
Sage and Aspen were by far the easiest little kids I have ever shot. They make Kyle look like devil child. Oh yeah... he is. CUTE tho.
Sage is a ham!! This girl would get into a position and hold dead still. Matter of fact she's still there. Smiling just like this.
Fit in a couple of my adorable happy nephew, Baby Cameron, or as I like to call him: Senor Spitty AKA Spitty Cent
Special thank you for Mel and Brent for letting me take pictures of their two cuties!!
(PS... Brent please don't sue me.)

Everyone... I'd like you to meet Fez.
Yep. This is Fez.
Why you ask? Why am I introducing you to an obnoxiously hued 70's barrel chair??? Because I am sorta in to love with him and together we're going to make dozens and dozens of adorable, well behaved, ravishing pictures.
I have been looking for a few unique pieces to use in my work. That obnoxious marigold color will work fantastic in my outdoor shots. I cannot wait to try Fez out and have made arrangements for a location and models this Friday. I'm pretty sure Fez is excited too. We're planning on giving Fez a little bit of a make-over. Perhaps get him out of that dated skirt so he can show off the sexy legs he's got.
In the meantime Fez is in pretty great shape. He needs a little cleaning here and there and he does have one little hard to see hole but other then that the cushion and the fabric look great. I picked him up at the local Deseret Industries. He was eyeing me... I flirted back. It was pretty much meant to be.
(Funny side story.... that D.I. What a bunch of swindlers. I bought Fez for fifteen dollars only to get home and see the tag taped on him said ten. Why I oughtta....)
Now I know what you are all thinking.... where did Fez get his name?? And you're thinking right. Randy and I both agreed he looked like he stepped out of Eric Forman's garage on That 70's Show.
Besides... he has a lisp.
AND and accent.
